Here in Singapore, it's usually rainy or sunny. When it is sunny, it can get really hot, so cold desserts are a good choice for the locals.
Today I will introduce you to Ice Kacang, a kind of cold, sweet dessert made of shaved ice. There are plenty of ingredients you can choose to use with the shaved ice. The commonly used ingredients are red beans, sweet corn, agar jelly, and chendol, but nowadays, Ice Kachang has evolved into many versions. For vegans, the main ingredient you have to look out for in this dessert is the use of evaporated milk, colorings and the possible use of animal-based jelly. To make your own simple Ice Kachang, simply get some shaved ice and drench it with some gula melaka syrup.
Hi Karen,
I am sorry for the late reply. Yes, Singapore is organic friendly. Organic eateries are widely available here and there are several organic shops selling organic produce. As for brands, I suppose they do have US organic stuff here, but this i m not too sure as I am not a very organic person. You may want to visit the forum of vegetarian society (singapore) to find out more :)
Hope it helps!
Hello! I posted this question on another one of your threads but wanted top post here too in case you don't look at past entries.
I have a few questions and I hope you can respond. I am veggie who is fairly strict about eating organic. We are contemplating a move to Sinapore. Is organic shopping available? Specifically, organic milk and eggs? How easy/not easy is it to find organic products? Are there any organic American brands or are they all Asia-based brands? Thank you so much if you have time to respond. I really appreciate it!
