Soya makes you gay!

Bet you didn’t know that did you? Well this is just one of the ‘fascinating’ items to be found on a site that was brought to my attention last week. If you want to find out what some people think about vegetarians then look no further than www.vegetariansareevil.com
For me the site shows just how misunderstood the concept of not eating meat is by many. I’m not saying for a minute that what’s there is representative of the majority view but it’s easy to forget that a lot of people find it hard to get their head round what it’s all about. And as for veganism, well I daren’t think what goes on in the minds of those who find the Vegetarians are Evil site of interest! The other day I was asked by a friend, in all sincerity, what we, at The Barn feed vegans for breakfast. He’s an intelligent guy who has worked in higher education for many years but the principles behind vegansim were so far off his mental map that he really couldn’t think what ‘ordinary’ food there could be. Have you had any recent examples of this? I’d love to hear about them……

Gay as in non violent, compassionate? empathetic, ethical and avoiding harm, protecting life and eating healthy foods EG not eating Steak????

There's only one thing you can say to that and it's Happy World Vegan Day !

Please sign the World Vegan Day petition to the Prime Minister, vote in the Poll and Ask for a Vegan Pizza.

Hello,
I have been a vegetarian for 8 years and became vegan just about 5 month ago. This was my very own choice. So it is for all other vegetarians and vegans, their own personal choice. Nobody should judge anybody about their diet: carnivore, vegetarian or vegan.
We are all from the same source, or God , however you want to call it. Therefore judging/criticising others means judging/criticising God/your'Self'. I think there is no wrong or right here. It is about 'how we keep' our animals or livestock and how we treat and raise the animals. It's a good thing, if the consumers become aware of the ill-treated animals and not buy 'cheap' meat, which would lead to the fact that farmers have to change their farming methods, hopefully in total respect of the animals. It is about awareness: how we treat ourselves and others, including animals/livestock.
Again, this comment is my own personal thought. If the cap fits, wear it.

You're quite right Stefanie - I too believe that it's better to educate people rather than harangue them. The trouble is that most people are really unwilling to accept the truth about how their animal produce food is brought to their plates. They are prepared to adopt a head in the sand attitude because the reality is so awful. Keep on trying though - in my experience some meat eaters will eventually see the light!
